Jim Harris

General Manager

Jim has been with Eastern Audio for over 40 years and has helped bring the company from a one man operation to where it is today; a dynamic, leading edge multi- faceted organization.  Equipped with his Diploma in Business Administration from the College of Trades & Technology, Jim has been responsible for the financial & human resource management as well as the overall strategic direction of the Company. He is also called upon for his expertise in the design of exhibition floor plans and continually provides guidance and advice on some of the more complicated event setups.  Jim has had the privilege of working with several Royal visits including: Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth in 1997, Princess Diana and Prince Charles in 1983 and just recently, the visit of Prince Charles and Camilla in 2011. Other notable events which Jim has worked on include Pope John Paul’s visit, the Cabot 500 Celebrations, “Night One” Mile One Stadium, and Closing Ceremonies for the St. John’s Memorial Stadium. Throughout his years of leadership within the company, Jim has been intricately involved with several national and international conferences in venues such as the Delta, the St. John’s Convention Centre, Mile One and the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland. He is by far a worthy leader and considered throughout the business community as an expert in his field.

Michael Harris

Director of Operations

Michael has worked with Eastern Audio for over 20 years.  He offers  a complete range of audio visual solutions with the utmost of professionalism and service.  Michael has extensive experience and quality workmanship with press conferences,  simultaneous translation,  multi room conferences, P.A operation, camera operation and trade shows.  He has been involved with several productions ranging from the smallest set up to the largest audio video and lighting productions such as the Royal Visit and Bill Clinton.  Michael is a dedicated team leader that never fails in providing the maximum quality of service to his customers.

Mary Catherine Oakley

Sales Manager

Mary Catherine has over 25 year’s hotel industry experience predominately in the area of conference services management, trade shows and Audio Visual Services. During those years, she has worked closely with the Account Managers of Eastern Audio in coordinating and planning the set up requirements for trade shows, gala dinners, national and international conferences and various high profile social events. Mary Catherine received her Bachelor of Education from Memorial University in 1990 and has acquired several designations including her diploma in Customer Satisfaction with the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA); certificate of Negotiating Agreements and certificate of Interaction Management. Her Goal; to guarantee all clients receive a superior level of technical support and customer services. Her purpose; to nurture, develop and grow key accounts.

Brian Ellsworth

Account Manager

Brian has over 25 years’ experience in the audio visual industry and has extensive experience with multi screen video/data presentations, simultaneous interpretation, computerized switching microphone systems and trade shows. In addition to his experience with Eastern Audio, Brian worked with Pro-Media in Vancouver, BC where he managed all AV orders for a major hotel chain. While in Vancouver, Brian received his diploma in the Design and Installation of Professional Sound Systems from Bose Professional Products Design courses. He has provided audio visual, trade show, audio and lighting management for such events as Gold Medal Plates, Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada, Federation of Law Societies of Canada, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and the 2010 Olympic Committee. Due to his understanding of their technical requirements, the Canadian Homebuilders Association of NL, Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador and the NL Construction Association has contracted Eastern Audio and Brian, in particular, to work on all of their meetings, events and trade shows for more than ten years.

Greg Burt

Account Manager / IT Support

Greg has been an employee with Eastern Audio for over 20 years. Starting as a technician, Greg quickly advanced in the industry and is presently a senior Account Manager with Eastern Audio. He graduated from the Applied Information Technology program from ITI with distinction in 1998 and has a background in computer networking and IT support. In his current projects, Greg plans, executes and supports large audio visual projects including; switching microphone simultaneous interpretation systems, multi screen camera and media systems, webcasting, video conferencing and ultra-wide high definition image projection. Over the years Greg has worked with an extensive list of clients including; Privy Council Office (Office of the Prime Minister), Canadian Premiers and New England Governors, Commission of Inquiry on Hormone Receptor Testing and the Cougar Offshore Helicopter Safety Inquiry.

Andrew Stokes

Account Manager

Andrew has over 25 years combined experience in the audiovisual and music industries. Andrew was hired as a technician in March of 1999 and quickly climbed through ranks to his current position as project manager. He has vast experience in the operation of simultaneous interpretation equipment; large multi screen projection systems and trade show coordination. Andrew has worked with many large, national and international conferences which have come to our Province including: National Research Council`s International Marine Biotechnology Conference; Canadian Society of Nephrology; Canadian Veterinary Medical Association; Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions and The Canadian Chamber of Commerce. Due to his comprehensive understanding of their complex technical requirements, The Canadian Society of Nephrology has contracted Eastern Audio and Andrew, in particular, to work on every national CSN conference across Canada since 2003. Andrew also travels with the CSN to their meetings in the USA every November. Andrew also handles the technical requirements for Stewart McKelvey Lawyers, College of Physicians and Surgeons of NL and all the National Judicial Council meetings which take place in the province regularly.

Cynthia Marsh

Office Manager and Account Payables/Receivables Clerk

Cynthia brings over 20 years of professional accounting experience with the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, Fairmont Newfoundland and the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland. She has an extensive background in business relating to all aspects of Simply Accounting, QuickBooks and various other operational solutions such as customer services, data entry, coding, billings, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, journal entries, bank reconciliation, tax remittance, and financial statements.  Earning her diploma in Travel and Tourism and acquiring several designations including certificates with Fairmont Hotels such as Leadership 2000, Train the Trainer, Interaction Management and recipient of Employee of the Year Award (Fairmont Hotel) Cynthia brings with her a multitude of experience.  She offers great organizational skills in multi-tasking, analytical and problem-solving, and the flexibility to work well with a team as well as on her own. When working with Cynthia, no less than complete dedication is what can be expected and she does all with a smile.

Andrew Landers

Senior Technician

Andrew Landers joined the Eastern Audio technical staff in 2009, bringing with him a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication (with a focus in TV/radio broadcasting & production) from Seton Hall University, and over a decade of field experience. Andy specializes in the operation of EFP/studio video cameras, multi-matrix seamless video switchers, simultaneous interpretation systems and P.A., along with multi-room conference oversight. Additionally, Andy carries a “keep two steps ahead” approach- he possesses a keen eye for seeking out what a client will need on site next, often before it is requested. Andy’s clientele includes The Royal Tour of Canada, The Prime Minister of Canada, Iron Ore Company of Canada, ExxonMobil Canada, Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians, The Terry Fox Foundation, Rick Hansen 25th Anniversary Relay, Bell Aliant, Municipalities Newfoundland & Labrador, Hospitality Newfoundland & Labrador, the Newfoundland & Labrador Liquor Corporation, St. John’s Board of Trade, Johnson Inc., Husky Energy, Nalcor Energy, Suncor Energy, and The Healthcare Foundation.

Curtis Perrin

Senior Technician

Curtis brings a combined 15 years experience in Audio Visual and Live/Studio production to the Eastern Audio team. He is familiar with a variety of systems including but not limited to the following; Audience Response Systems (ARS), Simultaneous Interpretation, Teleprompting, Audio/Video Conferencing, Press Conferences, Single and Multi Screen Projections, Audio/Video Recording as well as PA and Lighting. Curtis is also known to relieve the stress on event organizers, regarding the audio/visual, with his technical skills and his easy going “no problem” attitude. The National Judicial Institute (NJI), Newfoundland & Labrador Medical Association (NLMA), Newfoundland & Labrador Oil & Gas Industries Association (NOIA) and Atlantic Canada Opportunity Agency (ACOA) are just a few of the clients Curtis has had the opportunity to do work for on behalf of Eastern Audio.

Jay Wells

Senior Technician

With over 10 years’ experience, Jay is a specialist in live event operations and is a tremendous resource for our clients. He is a key link between clients and the technical data. Team members and clients describe Jay as “the guy who makes it all happen.” He is experienced with live sound production, video production and event coordination. His drive for tackling AV and production challenges are a perfect complement for the needs of our clients.

Andrew Marsh

Senior Technician

Andrew is the man that gets the job done right.  Proud to be an employee of 10 years with Eastern Audio, he knows just about everyone and everyone he knows remembers his commitment to service, friendliness, and hard work. He takes on anything and everything, from setting up the stage equipment for corporate events to mixing audio for live shows and possesses a strong understanding of all audiovisual equipment and components. His willingness to pitch in and help and his positive attitude have been a welcome addition to our team.

Andrew Kean

Senior Technician

Andrew is a seasoned technician determined to seek creative and visionary solutions.  He is widely skilled in concert lighting and PA systems, video lighting, trade shows, rigging and power distribution.  Andrew is also experienced with several consoles and equipment such as Grand-Ma lighting console, Arkos media server, video switching equipment, and audio mixers.  He is a certified lift operator and also has fall protection and arrest training. Andrew’s hard work and constant attention to detail combined with his never give up attitude make it easy for him to provide the vision of any client’s request.

Tony Batten

Senior Technician

Tony Batten has been with Eastern Audio since 2005. Originally hired as an audio/concert technician, he quickly launched himself into the world of conventions.  Tony brings a multitude of knowledge and skill in the areas of audio visual, lighting, simultaneous interpretation, teleprompting, video, and camera work for several national and international conferences.  He also enjoys working on the social side of conferences working alongside a wide variety of entertainment groups such as the 709 Band, Billy and the Bruisers and Buddy Wasisname and the Other Fellers.  In 2011, Tony moved to Gander to oversee the satellite office and provide audio visual services for the rest of the island.  Quite frequently he is called back to St. John’s when needed or by request from loyal clients such as: NOIA, NLTA (Newfoundland Labrador Teacher’s Association), NAPE, Scouts Canada, Newfoundland Federation of Labour, and Municipalities Newfoundland.  Clients take comfort with Tony’s mindset of “just about anything can be done.”  His service and dedication to his work is tried, tested and true.

Mark Strong

Senior Technician

With over 15 years of extensive history in the audio visual field and event production, Mark naturally moved into the role as technician.  Joining the team at Eastern Audio in 2012, Mark brings with him a wide range of experience in the areas of concert audio systems, multimedia presentations, video and camera switching, simultaneous interpretation and trade show management. He has had the pleasure of working with several groups such as Noia, Johnson Insurance,  Exxon Mobil, Bell Mobility, The Rooms, Eastern Health and The Canadian Society of Nephrology and eagerly awaits his next assignment.  Mark’s dedication to his work is simply nothing but the best and his standards of high performance are exceptional.  There is no task too difficult for him to achieve.
